The Body Atlas
MRI isn’t just for the brain. Travel from the head all the way down to the toes — every region is a real, openly-licensed scan you can scroll, window and render, paired with a short walkthrough of what to look for.
Region 1 of 5 · Brain & head
Head & brain
The most-imaged region in MRI. Compare four contrasts of one brain, plus diffusion, perfusion and functional series.

Walkthrough — what to look for
- 1
Orient
Start in the 3-plane view. Identify the lateral ventricles centrally, the cortical ribbon at the surface and the cerebellum and brainstem posteriorly/inferiorly.
- 2
Compare weightings
Switch T1 → T2 → PD. CSF goes dark → bright; white matter stays brighter than gray on T1 and darker on T2. This is relaxation, on real tissue.
- 3
See vessels
Load the TOF angiogram and switch to the 3D render to trace the circle of Willis as bright flowing blood.
- 4
Go functional
Open the diffusion or BOLD series and scrub the time/volume slider — these single-shot EPI images trade resolution for speed.
Every volume here is real, openly-licensed MRI, shown for education only — never for diagnosis. See data & licensing.
